Northwest Sweep Sheet

In order to help the Twin Cities and central Wisconsin stations work us, please provide your input to the NorthWest "sweep sheet". This information will also be posted to the reflectors with your updates. All QRP, portable, rover, single band, multiop, etc. Stations located North and West of the Twin Cities area are encouraged to participate in the contests.

Please forward any additional call signs of stations that you're aware of and we'll put them on the list. Just respond via an e-mail with your information and I'll move you to the active station list. Please indicate which bands you plan to have active (weak signal operation on SSB, CW, FM, etc.) during the contest. There's no obligation so, please send us your plans. Any corrections to the current information shown would also be appreciated. Buckmaster doesn't always have the currect data.

Also, if you'll be portable, indicate the operating location
Also, if you'll be roving, indicate planned grids to be activated
Note that you can operate both fixed and rover during the same contest (w/separate logs)

A = 50 MHz B = 144 MHz C = 222 MHz D = 432 MHz 9 = 902 MHz E = 1296 MHz
F = 2304 MHz G = 3456 MHz H = 5760 MHz I = 10 GHz J = 24 GHz etc.
Weak signal mode bands are CAPITALIZED. FM bands are shown in lower case.

FM in ND is suggested 50.525 or 52.540 alt , 146.55 or 146.58 alt, 446.000 (Send me your other band frequencies)

Below is a list of the active stations that have e-mailed their information.

Contrary to popular belief, there are many hams active on the VHF/UHF/SHF bands in the NorthWest MN, ND, Northern SD and Southern Manitoba areas. Those of us located NorthWest of the Twin Cities and central Wisconsin areas would like to encourage more stations to turn their rotors towards us during the contests. If you're located NE or SW of the Twin Cities just make the appropriate adjustments to your beam headings.

In order to make this more productive for everyone, we'll suggest these operations:
Which Direction?
        - approximately 45-90 degrees West of North from the Twin Cities area
What Frequency?
        - 144.245 MHz, the NorthWest "calling" freq. during the contest
        - 144.265 MHz, QSY up 20 KHz to the "running" freq. when .245 is congested
        - 50.245 MHz, QSY to the 6 meter "running" freq. when running the bands
        - 432.245 MHz, QSY to the 0.7 meter "running" freq. when running the bands

When to look for US?
        - starting 45 minutes past the hour
What Schedule?
        - nine windows-of-opportunity
        - 6:45 PM, 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM CDST on Saturday evening
        - 6:45 AM, 7:45 AM and 8:45 AM CDST on Sunday morning
        - 6:45 PM, 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM CDST on Sunday evening
Which Stations to look for?
        - We'll be posting a "sweep sheet" consisting of our call signs, name, grid,
ZIP, and active bands so that you'll know in advance where we are and our
capabilities.
        - There will also be several rovers active NorthWest of the Twin Cities.
Please watch for their calling frequencies, grids and schedule announcements.

Knowing where, when and how to find us should help everyone be more productive
during the contest and allow stations with a limited amount of time to be on-the-air
during these designated time periods. Not everyone will be operating during all nine
of the times but, some of us will be operating during many of them. NorthWest
stations with time-on-their-hands are encouraged to use the NorthWest calling
frequency anytime during the contest. Other stations wishing to contact us are
encouraged to point NW and give us a call anytime on 144.245 MHz during the contest.

The use of a "NorthWest calling frequency" will allow us to avoid the congestion on
the 144.200 MHz "general calling frequency" during the contest. We should be able to
listen for weaker/distant NorthWest stations that can "piggy back" onto the end of
QSOs to complete additional contacts that otherwise would not be possible. Please
listen for them after your QSOs. Several "running" frequencies are also listed for
your use during congestion and while "running" the bands.

So, when you're looking for additional Qs and grid multipliers, just turn your rotor
to 45' West of North at 45 min past the hour and give a call on the NorthWest
calling frequency of 144.245 MHz. You may find us on at anytime during the contest
and especially during any of the nine windows-of-opportunity. If your rotor won't
turn all the way towards NW, get out the WD-40 and lengthen your coax rotor loop now
before the contest starts.

hope that I've captured your ideas in this update.
