The satellite antennas, Cushcraft 20 element V band antenna set for right hand circular polarization with a Landwehr preamp; KLM 40 element U band antenna with switchable polarization and an SSB Electronics SP-7000 preamp; homebrew 31 turn right hand circular polarization helix (modeled after the VE3NPC array design) with an SSB Electronics UTM 1200 DLX 15 watt upconverter for L band; K5GNA modified downconverter with BBQ dish for S band.

A closer look at the satellite antennas.

The 98 foot Rohn 45G tower, Mosley PRO-67C3 on top at 100 feet. A Comet GP-6 on the side for 2 meters and 70cm. Yaesu G-2800DXA rotator and Ameritron RCS-8V remote coax switch. The guys are Phillystran, chosen to avoid the need to break up steel guy wires to avoid resonance problems.

The tower was erected with the help of Dennis Evans, Randy McCoy and Ron Jehle, all co-workers of mine at BNSF. A gin pole, 200 feet of rope, some pulleys and a lot of long hours over several weekends did the job. The Mosley was hoisted to the top by a crane to be bolted on, weighing in at 150 pounds it was decided that a gin pole hoisting would be a little too tricky!
