I have got a couple of messages that some dealers (or YAESU) are removing some diodes, never mind, use the Software mod, it's allways working, you don't ever have to open the rig, no soldering, warranty still valid, ... Yaesu removed diode 6006 which I believe is a DAN222(?). Without the diode in place strapping 0 and 1 are meaningless. Any ideas what that diode cross references to......because Yaesu is not divulging any information. Subject: VX-1R Squelch Problems & Yaesu Service From: dew@gray.cb.att.com (**Dave Woolf x4760 1J-310 (jc22b20m0)) Date: 1997/12/01 Message-ID: <65ugqi$p7@nntpb.cb.lucent.com> Newsgroups: rec.radio.amateur.equipment [More Headers] I wanted to report to the net a very satisfactory result with Yaesu service on my VX-1R. As reported a few weeks ago I had the squelch fail after using the ADMS software to program the radio for the first time. I sent my radio in for warranty service. It took exactly 2 weeks from when I shipped it (normal UPS ground) until I received it back (UPS 3 day) repaired. I consider this excellent service response. They reported to have replace the CPU in the radio and the sequelch problem is now fixed with no re-occurence. This also fixed the other problem I reported of the radio refusing to transmit when programmed for cross band operation. The only complaint I have now is the method I used previously of getting the firmware version (holding down the AR button when powering on) no longer works. So I cannot report to the net what firmware version was in the replacement CPU. Yeasu and RT systems keep updating their software and radios to prevent modifications from what I can see. I'm thinking of starting an unofficial VX-1R page..... I'll keep you posted. There are 3 Versions of the VX-1R, and 3 Software versions. Is this something new in the ADMS-1D software. Where can I > get a complete thread on all the software mods? You should read the newsgroups also, I have released a info a month ago that RT Systems have implemented a aditional checking (for the Software mods only) in the versions 1.02 and later, so the Software mods are working with versions 1.00 and 1.01 only.
