Wide Band Transmit for Yaesu VX-1

1. Remove battery

2. Remove 3x philips screws from back of case

3. Carefully lift rear of case off. The edge along the side where the 
battery goes is held together with 3x hook snaps. reach inside the 
battery compartment with a small straight blade screwdriver to release 
the first one or two. Be careful not to loose the battery door hinge pin

4. With the radio laying face down, look in the top left corner, just 
below the rotary switch, see two open jumper pads numbered 0 AND 1. 
CAREFULLY bridge these two jumpers(separately) with solder

5 Reinstall back cover

6 Reset CPU per the owner's manual; press and hold the M/V and the AR 
buttons while turning the radio ON, then press the FW button

Radio will now transmit from 137-174 Mhz and 410-470 MHz. to activate 
tx in the UHF T band)470-512 MHz, set the operating mode to Narrow FM

Oh yeah, this mod also adds 870-894 MHz receive too. Isn't that just 
special... For those that choose not to do this mod, you can image 
receive this range by tuning accross 952.9-876.9 MHz

Receive sensitivity tests indicate very good sensitivity weel beyond the 
Ham bands, .3 uV up through 175 MHz and to 512 MHz too 800 MHz 
sensitivity SUCKS, but is better than stated in the manual, about 2 uV
