Leave two screws for the front panel to pivot on. 3) Behind the earphone jack is a small circuit board. On the left side of the board there are components and markings (R1,C1,etc). One the right side of the board there are two 1/8 watt 2.2ohm resistors. 4) Remove both 2.2ohm resistors from the circuit board (they are simply tacked on). Thats it. Now you will have enough audio for any of your headphones with no distortion. If you perform this mod along with the volume control mod you will be very happy with the receive audio in this rig (as I am). More mods for the FT-847 (including the volume control mod) can be found on this webb page: http://www.en.com/users/rayd/ft-847/ John Gordon KD2JF xlr8@worldnet.att.net
