19th February

We would like to wish Barry and James the very  best of luck for the Foundation License exam which they are both taking this coming Thursday 23rd February, so good luck guys but I am sure you will not need it...!.


One of members Graham - M0AEP is going on his travels over the next few weeks to the Caribbean Island of Montserrat so let us hope some of us can make contact with him on the Amateur Radio bands.
Please keep an eye on the website as we hope to be able to arrange some times and frequencies to contact him.

11th February

There was not to many at the last club meeting perhaps due to the heavy snow that was falling.
However the two knew members Barry and James managed to make it and we got the rest of there practical training done in preparation for the Foundation License exam which they are taking on 23rd February.


The members and Committee would like to thank Lee - M6LSM / 2E0CJA for all of his help as Vice Chairman over the past year, Lee has decided to resign from this post and move on from the club.


5th February

More new meeting date details have been added to the What's On Page


We have now received the license Notice Of Variation for this years  Mills On The Air special event station operation which takes place over the weekend of 12th/13th May.
Please watch this space for further details nearer the event date.


4th February

31st January

The license Notice Of Variation application for this years Mills On The Air event has been completed and sent to Ofcom for processing.


28th January

Many thanks to Harold Scivens for coming to the last meeting and giving us an update on the Radio Society Of Great Britain's activities, Harold is the region 4 General Manager.


The events for the coming year was discussed at the last meeting and it was decided that the club would once again be taking part in this years Mills On The Air event which takes place over the weekend of 12th/13th May.
Graham - M0AEP will be contacting the land owner for permission to use the same site as previous years and also applying for the license Notice Of Variation to Ofcom


The Committee and members would like to thank Lee - M1DEN for his help as the club's Secretary over the last year and we hope to see him at one of the upcoming meetings or at one of the event stations.


22nd January

The Members List Page has now been updated.


13th January

We would like to welcome Barry and James who came to the club at the last meeting and it was nice to see some new faces which are full of enthusiasm to become involved with future club events over the coming year.
Both Barry and James will be taking the Foundation license exam on
23rd February and the club will be there to train and support them.


The What's On Page and the Training Page have now been updated giving detailed dates for the New Year 2012.

CB RADIO NET

For our CB Radio enthusiasts there is a weekly net every Sunday at around 7:30pm to 8pm local time on channel 31 CB/27/81 on the FM mode, the frequency is
 27.901.25 MHz.


THE NORTHERN LIGHTS

Please see below a You Tube video of the recent aurora borealis (The Northern Lights), this video was taken in Norway on 22nd/23rd January 2012.
The aurora borealis is caused by particles from the sun blowing toward the earth with the solar wind. When these particles hit the earth's magnetic field, the crash of atoms and molecules creates a beautiful sight, this is sometimes referred to as natures very own light show.
