Hi there...

My name is Steve Day and my callsign is MW0GLS, i am 44 years old and live in the seaside Town of ABERYSTWYTH on the West Wales coast, the Grid locator is IO72XK. I have recently returned to th UK after many Years of living in Germany, where i signed DK8LS. I became interested in Ham radio after expieriencing a spot of sporadic E propagation on my Son Allan's cb radio, the sporadic didn't last of course, but i had been bitten by the bug, so i taught myself Morse code and passed the German Radio Amateurs examinations for a class 1 license.

I am a keen CW operator and a member of FISTS Morse preservation society, my Member number is 7779. I support the use and continuation of the CW mode and do not subscribe to the views of the no code fraternity, who are just looking for a free ticket into Ham radio.

I am a keen DXer on all bands and one of my favorite passtimes when i'm not on the air, is building Antennas. There can be a lot of satisfaction gained from working the World on homemade gear, and sometimes the results are better than from commercially built stuff. I like radio's with Tube finals, and allthough band changing is somewhat slower than on solid state rigs, i don't mind the tuning process at all, i am a bit of a nostalgia freak........ but isn't that a part of what Ham radio is all about ?
