Spring 2017 meeting of the Marquette Repeater Association - 5-25-17
The meeting was called to order at 7:15PM by President Andy-KB8PPE In attendance: Andy-KB8PPE, Mike-KE8IL, Al-W8FYZ, Judy-N8ITK, Gary-NJ8H, Mike-KC8QWO, Peter-KC8YTX, Mike B-KD8JIR, and Beth Larsen (future Ham) The Minutes of the last meeting were read by Secretary Al-W8FYZ and were approved ~ (Pete, Gary). Treasurer's Report ~ Approved (Al, Mike-QWO) Old Business ~ Paul Racine, KB0P resigned as UPARRA Frequency Coordinator. Al, W8FYZ asked if Mike, KE8IL would consider it as he thinks Mike would do an excellent job. ~ Purchase of Echolink PC: Mike, KE8IL explained the needed emergency purchase of a replacement PC to run Echolink on the Repeaters. Mike-KE8IL, Andy-KB8PPE and Al-W8FYZ approved the purchase of a refurbished PC from a local vendor of Mike's suggestion and got the unit up and running. The old PC was no longer functioning. ~ Mike-KE8IL discussed attempted renewal of our Lease at the Tower with ATC. ATC is now managing and/or Owner of the Tower from Verizon. Previously we dealt with Verizon's Legal Department on this. ATC informed Mike the Lease was supposedly terminated by Verizon previously. Mike expressed his frustration. Al-W8FYZ suggested to Mike he call Verizon and ask for assistance and find out if Verizon still owns the Tower or if they are leasing it back now from ATC. (open) ~ Al asked if our Liability Insurance provider offered Equipment insurance and Mike said yes but in the past we were not worried about replacement as it was used and donated gear. Now that we are running a new Repeater he suggested it. Mike stated the ARRL insurance was for replacement value, not actual. ~ Al-W8FYZ made a motion that Mike-KE8IL pursue equipment insurance for all of our site equipment and purchase it if it did not exceed $150.00 per year. Mike-KD8JIR Seconded the motion and all voted in favor and the motion passed. * *Mike has since sent a request to Al-W8FYZ to provide a complete list of all equipment to be covered and answer form questions from Insurer. New Business: ~ Mike and others gave a report on attendance at the recent Jack Nelson (N8JRN) fundraising benefit to aid in making his Home more accessible following his recent major illnesses. Jack is presently at the Eastwood Nursing home in Negaunee and suggested anyone that can should stop and visit. ~ Review by those attending this year's Dayton Hamvention was that it was okay. ~ Al-W8FYZ mentioned the upcoming LARS Newberry Swap on June 10th. ~ Al also mentioned the Grand Island Marathon on Saturday July 22nd. ~ Mike KD8JIR mentioned American Radio Supply as a good radio parts source. Motion to Adjourn was made by Al-W8FYZ, Seconded by Mike-KC8QWO, Approved, meeting was adjourned at 8:23PM.
