It's official! We won!
The official results were published April 4, 2001 by Bob Hightower NK7M.
This year's event started with the usual 6:30am breakfast at McDonalds. As in past years, FYBO falls on our regular meeting day and again we setup outside our meeting location, the Minnetonka Community Center. Temperatures were very cooperative, we started off at 12 °F easily assuring the six temperature multipliers with the first QSO. Well uffda, it IS Minnesota ya know!!

The WQØRP Chalet
The first few QSOs of the day were made from a car on the 40M dipole while the camper was being set up. Then we moved to the screen porch on the side of the camper when the mosquitoes got too bad! Finally we moved inside the camper to finish the day in luxury.

We had a few equipment problems along the way. The computer didn't like the cold very well. We also switched logging programs in the middle of the contest. The memory keyer lost a voltage regulator so it was put on the injured list. The radios and antennas performed well though and the deep cycle batteries never showed any sign of fading.

A pot-luck lunch was held again this year, the two pots of chili were the most popular items on the menu. Our regular monthly meeting followed at 1:30 PM.

Many thanks to all those that participated in this year's FYBO operation. It was our most successful effort yet in this event. Special thanks to Larry KBØR for the use of his camper and to all those that brought radios, antennas, computers and food for the pot-luck lunch.
