The Marquette coalition was founded in the fall of 2003 after the North East blackout that year. For the purpose of organizing area amateur radio operators to prepare for emergencies and to reinstitute severe weather reporting by amateur radio in the coalition coverage area. Generally the greater Portage to Montello area. In recent times the coalitions mission has condensed into the airing of news and bulletins of general interest to the amateur radio operator. The coalition conducts weekly nets that include "This Week In Amateur Radio" restarted in November 2003.
