Jimmy was like the proverbial rat out of a trap as he raced directly and steeply uphill towards the summit of Arnside Knott.  Liam and myself had other ideas and followed the wider and much more graded stony path around to the top of the hill.  Like last year, we initially set up by the bench, but similarly found contacts difficult to come by.  Jimmy managed one contact from there upon his arrival, but that was it.

We explored through the trees on the summit for a view to the south.  We found a nice spot, overlooking Morecambe Bay on the edge of a steep hill by the south face of the Knott.  All the gear was reset here, and things became much easier.  A pleasant activation brought three satisfying days of hillwalking to a close.  It was time to head back to Macclesfield.
