In 1998 we are celebrating 100 years of Amateur Radio, and looking forward to see what the next Millenium might bring. The changes over the last 100 years have been dramatic, the changes over the next century are likely to be even more so.
Amateur radio is a truly worldwide hobby and its devotees range from young children to Kings and Queens. There are no bars to language, race, creed or colour and everyday the airwaves are full of people talking to each other by the wonders of radio.
Even the difficulties of language can be overcome by use of a simple code named after Samuel Morse. Despite rumours to the contrary, Morse code is in use every day on the Short Wave bands, as amateur radio operators talk to friends from around the world.
As well as morse code and speech, like minded individuals are sending messages by television, facsimile, packet radio and even via amateur built satellites. Join us now for the adventure of a lifetime, as well as the international friendship that endures.
