The M6KNS Temperature & Humidity Monitor!

~~~~~~
My latest project is the Raspberry Pi Temperature & Humidity Monitor.
It consists of the following items of hardware:
A Raspberry Pi 3 running Raspbian Jessie OS
The BreadBoard Buddy Kit
A DHT11 Digital Humidity & Temperature Sensor
~~~~~~

Having recently purchased a RPi I decided to try out a few small projects. The 'Blinking LEDs'
project worked well, the 'Button Press' project was also a success and the 'Buzzer' project wrapped up
my initial trials with the RPi. I then went on to purchasing the DHT11 Digital Temperature & Humidity Sensor
and started the quest of finding the Python Code to run it. This was somewhat of a challenge as most projects detailed
online use the Arduino rather than the RPi! In the end I found what I was looking for, installed the code and it was
up and running in no time at all. I created an account with 'ThingSpeak' and configured the API Key into my python code
so the data was uploading automatically to the site. The Graphs above are Real-Time Readings direct from my shack
here in Scunthorpe!

The Kendal Mint Cake Data Interface!

My idea for a 'Home-Brew' Data Interface came from my interest in SSTV Transmissions.
As I have recently spent quite alot of money on my new rig, the Yaesu FT-450D, together with
the fact that I have an urge to learn more about electronics, especially as I want to study for my
Intermediate Licence, I thought i'd have a go at researching and constructing my own Data Interface.
I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a 'ready to assemble' kit
from the Internet and acquired a couple
of audio cables and an old keyboard cable for connecting it to both my rig and computer.

The video below shows my prototype Data Interface which I built into a Kendal Mint Cake Tin.
When I build my next one, which will be better planned out, I will create a video compilation of
photographs taken at various stages of construct in the hope it will give other operators the confidence
to give it a go themselves.
