Parallel Single Ended (PSE) tube amp powered by 300B.

The project was born under the idea of trying out the legendary 300B tubes that were first made by Western Electric 70 years ago. It's impossible to think of something new when using these tubes, so I chose a simple philosophy - just no compromises... Well, almost no compromises. I'm not going to hand-wind transformers from silver wire as done by Audio Note. I think that silver wire is 99% bluff and 1% benefit. But of course quality of parts used is key in realizing 300B's full potential.

Here's how it looks with 300B's by JJ electronics and Electro Harmonix's 6SN7 GOLD

Beautiful light emmited by tubesint hte evening . Inside of amp. Audio input is routed through a hermetic relay swithch into a motorized ALPS potentiometer, where it is further fed into an Electro Harmonics 6SN7 Gold double triode with gold-plated pins, operating in SRPP configuration. The signal then reaches high quality AUDYNCAP capacitors and 300B power triode. The otput transformer has a double U-shaped core, with primary winding resistance of 3 kOhm and secondary winding resistance 4 and 8 Ohm . "Green Eyes " display the output signal level (10 Watt max.). There are no AC currents in the main amp. Power supply in a separate housing. It has a common anode voltage power transformer and separate vacuum diodes for each channel. Anode voltage supply caps have a combined capacitance of 3000 uF per channel plus 10 Henry inductive coils. All tubes have DC heating, which dramatically cuts down hum. To prolong the life of expensive power tubes, anode voltage is supplied with a delay of 1 minute. When turning on the amp, anode voltage gradually rises to 250 V and fully engages after 1 minute. Thus we prolong the life of both power tubes and diodes. A large capacitance electrolytic caps can also be used in anode voltage regulator's output. This amp has an IR remote control for switching input channels and adjusting the volume.

Power Output/Total Harminic Distortion: 19W/5%, 16W/1%, 1W/0,1%, 0,1W/0,05%.

Output Impedance : 8 Or 4 Ohm.

Output Signal Level on Full Power: 1 V.

No. of Inputs: 5.

Input Impedance: 100 kOhm.

Power Supply: 200W (~2W on Standby)

Signal-To-Noise Ratio : -90db.

I use a Cambrige Audio Azur 540D player as my main sound source. The player is connected with a short (0,5 m) interconnect cable. My speakers are JM Lab Electra 926 (91 db, 8 Ohm, ....36 kg per unit), connected via 4 sq. mm oxygen-free copper wire. The amplifier produces a very clear, neutral sound with very deep bass. I came to a conclusion that 300B has too neutral and natural of a sound.
