!!! BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU !!!
LX2SM HOME
PAGE
There's always one more bug.
Hello fellow HAM and internet surfer and welcome to my home page. It's my pleasure that you made it this far . . . And I hope that you'll stick around long enough to get to know just a little bit more about me and my life. (To know the time it takes to do this task; estimate the time you think it could take ,multiply by two and change the unit of measure to the next highest unit. Thus, you should allocate 10 hours for this 5 minutes task.).

My HAM
story

You will find below some small informations about what mother propagation let me do during the last 8 years. To be complete and let you make some comparaisons, I will give you more infos.During 1995/96/97, on my previous QTH into LX capital city I was using 100 watts from a YAESU 890-AT, then later from a KENWOOD TS850-S. During 1995/96 the antenna was a CUSHCRAFT AP-8A. I change 1997 for a GAP TITAN-8, both antennas were placed at the same place on the top of my building about 24 meters up the ground. These configuration let me work 200 DXCC. Mid 1997, I move to my present QTH from which I'm still using the GAP and try to improve things on high bands by placing a yagi beam A3S CUSCRAFT, 21 meters high in the air. April 1998 I bough my AMERITRON AL-80BX linear which gives me with my beam 115 DXCCs more. Up juni 1999 I'm also more present on 40 with homemade full size OCFD with pretty good results so look for me on 40 (now dismantle), I also just put on the air an ISOTRON 160C for 160 but this one will probably not be so good for DX, wait and see.
November 2011 after almost 3 years of home improvement, modification for that the family has to leave home for months due to dangerous homework including wall and basement, I'm back. House is complete but the radio station suffer deeply from dust and vibration and unactivities even if the radio room was secured... All radio, linear, interface, are working again, got a new PC, got new logbook and after hard work could save my old data.
The TS 850S doesn't work anymore above 20mts band, so I must fixe that problem. I succeed.
The AL-80B TX/RX relay was faulty, so must fixe it also. I succed.
The transformator of my rotor controler was dead and have to be replaced. that was really expensive...
Before new problems come, I open all device and take away the dust, good idea seeing all my power supply...
Then I tough it could be a good idea to backup my logbook, Murphy was an optimistic... During the backup, the DVD burner burnt itself, destroying the radio PC power supply and burning most of the PC... After asking myself if it was not time to stop this time consuming and expensive hobby but I decide to further hamming. I buy a new PC and interface for radio and look for uptodate software. More on software later.
My next project is to built a full quarter wave vertical (already bought) as I need point on this band and if result are good I will add 80 meters inductor on it, but this could take some weeks. I built this antenna last weekend and loose hours trying to adjust the antenna till I found a defect UHF 90° male to female elbow, after that the antenna prove to be efficient for 1000kms contact but extremely noisy. No sign of static, so it won't be easy to supress the noise. I must confess that the quality of the spiderbeam fiberglass pole seems good to be, the black finish coating looks perfect to me. Next project will be a receiving magnetic loop to get a more noise free reception.
All radio, linear, interface, are now working again, got a new PC, got new logbook and after hard work could save my old data.

One of my homebrew antenna. This one is a 3 elements Yagi for 6 meters. This antenna works extremely well giving me a lot of fun on 6. You can say it's ladder line at his best... Facts
Arrogance is too often the companion of excellence.
I guess that the best and fastest way to really get to know me is by discovering what I think. So here we goes . . .
*Antenna (If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway).
*Propagation (The other path always works better).
*Qsl (Everyone has a scheme for getting QSL that will not work).
*Linear (Anything good in life is either illegal, immoral, or fattening).
*Swr meter (Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong).
*Tx (It works better if you plug it).
*Logbook (No logbooks are lost, except those you particularly wanted to
keep).
*Computer (under the most rigourous controlled conditions of pressure,
temperature, volume, humidity, and other variables, the computer will do as it
damn well pleases).
*Contest (If it looks easy, it's tough. If it looks tough, it's damn near
impossible to make a good score).
QSL the easy way
In order to get a QSL, you must first prove you don't need it.

All QSLs (SWLs QSLs as well) will be responded with pleasure, the best way to
get mine is via buro, but if you are hurry, ( direct QSL turn-around is now
about two months, usually one month ) QSL direct will be returned direct with
no need for green stamps, IRC or any other fee. This is HAM-spirit and this is
the way it must be. To be honest SASE enveloppe or address label are extremly
welcome. For instance only during july 1998, 80 QSLs have been returned direct
and 155 direct QSLs for january 2001. I'm also LX2OOO (OSCAR OSCAR OSCAR)
Before 26/07/99 I was not present on 6 meters, so sorry to say, but all
contacts before this date with my call on this band are due to pirat
activations and QSLs won't get any reply.
EQSL and LOTW are ok, both are daily updated if activations take place.
All pending direct QSL till 28/01/2012 have been sent.
QSL are ok via buro, all pending QSLs have been sent 02 febrary 2012.
QSL is the final courtesy of a good QSO.
If you need LX on 20/15/10 just let me know via one of my e-mail to arrange it.
Direct QSL must be send to:
