Punta Delgada Lighthouse is located in the Southeastern end of the Peninsula Valdes. Its name belong to the geographical feature, discovered and baptized by the Spanish navigatorīs Jose Goicochea, at command of the San Francisco de Paulaīs ship.
Its construction began in September 1904 under the supervision of the Hydrographic Section, Lights and Beacons (at date Hydrography Naval Service), culminating at April 1905. Beginning to work on May 1st. of the same year. The direction was in charge of the Inspector of Lighthouses, Lieutenant Pablo Texera Garcia and Guillermo Cray, (Lighthouse mechanics) accompanied by a group of workers.
In the beginning the Lighthouse School Guards worked on those dependencies.
Originally, the beam of the white light was made by the petroleum steam, with mantillas of 55 m/m width, AUER brand, burned with vaporizer upper tube (on its old model), a 2 bronze tanks battery for compressed air and petroleum, although at the present time works with electrical energy produced by a generator.
On the shore of the lighthouse dwuell one of more important marine elephants colony of the Patagonia. Also, in the place where the lighthouse works there is an important international hotel-restaurant. We arrived at the lighthouse through the Provincial Route #2 from Puerto Piramide, right to the east covering 70 km.(45 milles).
