How to use the Graphs
This
section explains how to use the chart/graph. The vertical line
shows
the frequency in Mhz. The red line in the graph shows the MUF.
MUF
(Maximum Usable Frequency) This is the highest frequency for
reliable radio communications via the ionosphere. The median MUF is
the highest frequency that will be usable at a particular hour for at
least 50% of the days of the month.
The
horizontal line shows UTC time. UTC is 1 hour earlier than CET
winter time and 2 hours earlier than CET summer time. SHORT PATH:
is the shortest route to a location. LONG
PATH: is the longest route
to a location.
The
following systems were used for the calculations. On the Dutch
side a 4 element Yagi 400 watts and on the other side a 3 element
Yagi 100 watts. Understandably, if the other side uses a vertical antenna
25 watts you may not hear this station because it is below the signal
to noise ratio.
We
will try and show the most interesting DX information for this month
and the following month. If you have any info about a coming DX
Expedition, let us know and we will add it for you. Ron PA1ZX will be
happy to receive your info (please include dates, and the HAM call).
Further
information will be added to the DX Expedition page. Without
your info there will be no DX Forecast for other new DX Expeditions.
Note:
We would like to point out that the forecasts are just forecasts
and may differ from reality.
