John, W2GW, the LIDXA President, called to order the meeting
of September 11 at 8:10 PM. This
meeting was held a week earlier–on the second week of the month. The regular meeting date, on the third Friday
in September, is the start of the Jewish New Year and there will be no meeting.
Unfortunately members who came to the school earlier tonight were
informed that the school was not open for our meeting. It appears with the start of the new school
term, Briarcliffe College
will not be having classes on Friday nights and hence the school will not open
for any activities.
A good part of this meeting, which was held outside the locked school
door, was a discussion on what the LIDXA should do for future meetings. Since the school is expected to be open on
other evenings during the week, it was decided to move the meetings to the
third THURSDAY of the week. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday
night, October 15 at 8PM. It was
hoped that we will have this meeting with no problem in our regular room (Room
10 in the

KE2LJ, Pat, the minutes appear in the LIDXA web site at: http://www.qsl.net/lidxa.
W2GW gave the monthly Treasurer’s report. John mentioned that the club’s liability bill
will be due soon. This is the single
most expensive allocation for the club.
John mentioned that he will be using the
professional services of W2GD shortly to raise his new antenna assembly. Ed said he had some tower work to be done in
the future and would contact John privately.
Ed mentioned that there was good activity by the
Grumman Radio Club from July 16 through July 21 to commemorate the 40th
anniversary of the Apollo 11 manned landing on the moon. Over 1300 stations
were contacted. Special certificates
will be sent out shortly. LIDXA members W2ABK
and K2MFY are a few of the Grumman club members who participated in the event.
Marv, W2FGD, reminded the membership to check-in at the
LIDXA weekly nets on Sunday night at 9 PM local time on the Grumman Hauppauge
repeater at 145.330/144.730 MHz (with 136.5 Hz PL), to get the latest
information on club matters and events.
The meeting concluded early at around 9:00 PM after all the scheduled
business had finished. The video
scheduled for tonight, on the January 2007 DXpedition to the Sovereign Military
Order of Malta as 1A4A, was not shown since the DVD player was not
accessible. Also John requested that Ed
chair the October 15 meeting since he will be on vacation. Assuming that
