Starting the business portion of tonight’s meeting was the approval of the April 18th meeting minutes.  Except for a couple of minor errors the minutes were accepted as presented.  In addition, the minutes were prepared in advance by Ed, K2MFY and sent out to the membership with the February meeting notice.  Thanks to the efforts of KE2LJ, Pat, the minutes appear in the LIDXA web site at: http://www.qsl.net/lidxa.

W2GW gave the monthly Treasurer’s report.  Members who have still not paid up may be dropped from the roster and e-mail announcements in the future.

NEW BUSINESS

Several LIDXA members who were present tonight and attended the May Dayton HamVention summarized some of the notable events that they recalled.  The weather was fine, exhibitors were plentiful, and the forums well worth attending.  Videos from Dayton are available for viewing at http://k9jy.com/blog/2008/05/18/dayton-hamvention-2008-videos/  and other sites.

Ed mentioned that the URL for the DX Summit had just changed.  The new URL is http://www.dxsummit.fi/

At this time in the meeting, John stated that tonight we would have our elections for all officers and Board of Directors for the club (years 2008-2010).  Since Ed, who heads the Nominating Committee, said that there were no new candidates other than those proposed last month, the election was held.

The following were the election results:

·                     President: John, W2GW

·                     Vice President: Marv, W2FGD

·                     Secretary: Ed, K2MFY

·                     Treasurer: John, W2GW

·                     Directors: Steve, WB2ZHB; Andy, W2VZQ; Frank, N2FF.

The membership applauded the new/incumbent club officers and offered them support over the next two years.  This slate will be in effect at the June meeting.  Ed said he would forward the list of the new club officers to the leading ham radio newsletters for publication.

Marv, W2FGD, reminded the membership to check-in at the LIDXA weekly nets on Sunday night at 9 PM local time on the Grumman Hauppauge repeater at 145.330/144.730 MHz (with 136.5 Hz PL), to get the latest information on club matters and events.

With the business portion of the membership concluded, a DVD was then shown on the Fall 2005 DXpedition to Kure Island in the Pacific Ocean as K7C.  Besides the ham radio aspects of this trip the DVD showed the extensive bird and fauna life on this remote atoll.

This meeting concluded at around 9:45 PM after all the scheduled business and entertainment had finished.  The next LIDXA meeting, the last one before the summer recess, will be held on June 20.
