John, W2GW, the LIDXA President, called to order the meeting of May 18th at 8:15 PM. Members present (per sign-in on the blackboard) included W2GW, K2MFY, KC2OPX, W2VZQ, AB2NT, W2FGD, K2MAU, NA2P, WB2QJ and YL KC2NOT and OM, and N2DXJ and XYL.

OLD BUSINESS

In terms of DX, specific activities were highlighted:

Starting the business portion of tonight’s meeting was the approval of the April 20 meeting minutes.  These minutes were accepted as presented.  In addition, the minutes were prepared in advance by the club’s secretary, Ed, K2MFY, and sent out to the membership with the May meeting notice.  Thanks to the efforts of KE2LJ, Pat, the minutes appear in the LIDXA web site at: http://www.qsl.net/lidxa.

Club Treasurer, John, W2GW gave the monthly Treasurer’s report.  Annual dues for the 2007 calendar year are now due in the amount of $20.  John indicated that about 16 members had already paid their dues.  John mentioned that in order to stay an ARRL-affiliated club, at least 25 members must be part of the club.  Ed indicated that the next LIDXA update to the ARRL for club status is required in early 2008.  John also provided the latest LIDXA roster to the membership.

NEW BUSINESS

Pat, KE2LJ, the LIDXA Vice President was not at tonight’s meeting since he was attending the Hamvention out in Dayton.  It is expected that Pat would be discussing Hamvention highlights at the Sunday night’s net and also in the May meeting.

John reminded the membership that since Pat is leaving the NYC area for a Florida retirement in the early Summer, we shortly must elect a new club Vice President.

Another active member of the club reported that he would soon be leaving this area for North Carolina.  Pete, NA2P, said he would be relocating.  He has already sold just about all of his ham equipment and has his house up for sale.  The membership was sorry to hear about Pete’s move and wished him luck and also to keep in touch with the club.

A DVD was then shown on the October 2004 German DXpedition to the Cameroon (as TJ3FR and TJ3SP).  In between all their sightseeing and eating they still had time to make about 34,000 contacts.

This meeting concluded at around 9:30 PM after all the scheduled business and entertainment had finished.  The next LIDXA meeting will be held on Friday June 15, 2007.  This June meeting will be the last one until September.
