The LIDXA President, Marty, NN2C, called the meeting of May 19 to order at 8:08 PM. Members present (per sign-in on the blackboard) included K2MFY, NN2C, W2FGD, N2ZN, KB2HK, W2VZQ, NX2F, AG2A, NA2P, W2GW and XYL KC2MAU.
In terms of DX, specific activities were highlighted:
Starting the business portion of tonight’s meeting was the approval of the April 21 meeting minutes. These minutes were accepted as presented. In addition, the minutes were prepared in advance by the club’s secretary, Ed, K2MFY, and sent out to the membership with the club’s March meeting notice. Thanks to the efforts of KE2LJ, Pat, the minutes appear in the LIDXA web site at: http://www.qsl.net/lidxa.
Club Treasurer, John, W2GW, gave the monthly Treasurer’s report. The club thanked John for just publishing an updated membership list (effective May 10).
Now that the appointment of W2GW, as the new approved DXCC card checker has been confirmed, (replacing Emil, KD1F, who is moving up to Connecticut), the LIDXA has both approved ARRL DXCC card checkers as members of the club (Tom, AG2A and John, W2GW). Chances are now that DXers will usually find a card checker present at the LIDXA monthly meetings.
It was also mentioned that LIDXA member, and LIDXA Vice President, Pat, KE2LJ would not be at tonight’s meeting as he was attending the Dayton Hamvention. It was expected that Pat would relate his experiences at the Hamvention during the June meeting.
The club’s Constitution states that elections for all officers of the club (even years—years 2006–2008) must occur at the May meeting, and that nominations for all positions must take place during the April meeting (or before). The new officers of the club would then be elected at the May 19 meeting, and their terms would then become effective at the June 16 meeting. All members were asked to think about eligible candidates for LIDXA President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. In addition, at least three Directors must also be elected. The current slate of LIDXA officers (2004–2006 are:

· Secretary: Ed, K2MFY
· Treasurer: John, W2GW
· Directors: Emil, KD1F; Lew, W2BIE; and Andy, W2VZQ.
It was anticipated that the present slate above would be running for the 2006–2008 election, except for KD1F, who is leaving the New York area for Connecticut. By a show of hands the members nominated Tom, AG2A to fill the empty director position. Since there was no additional candidates offered for the slate, it was decided to close the balloting and to present the following candidate list to the membership at the June meeting.

It was proposed to send the above slate out with the June meeting notice. Members who cannot make the next meeting will have the opportunity to vote in the election, by agreeing/disagreeing with the above slate. Since every office has no opposition, Ed will just tally these on-line comments at the next meeting.
The business portion of the meeting was over around 8:50PM. The video scheduled for tonight’s meeting could not be shown as the cables were missing between the TV set and the DVD/VCR player.
The membership was reminded to attend the LIDXA weekly nets on Sunday night at 9PM local time on the Grumman Hauppauge repeater at 145.330/144.730 MHz (with 136.5 Hz PL).
This meeting concluded early at around 9:00 PM after all the scheduled business finished. The next meeting will be held on June16. This will be our last meeting before the summer hiatus.
