The LIDXA President, Marty, NN2C, called the meeting of February 17 to order at 8:15 PM. Members present (per sign-in on the blackboard) included NN2C, W2FGD, W2GW and XYL, KC2MAU, N2DXJ and XYL. The club welcomed guest Peter, NA2P. Ed, K2MFY, and his XYL, Linda made a brief appearance, but they had to leave due to a family emergency
Since a quorum of members was not in attendance at tonight’s meeting, no formal club business could be conducted.
Now that the 3YØX operation to Peter 1st is history, all DXing efforts will be put into the ARRL DX contests. The CW portion will be held over the February 18-19 weekend, while the SSB portion is the March 4-5 weekend.
Club Treasurer, John, W2GW informed members of our financial status. To date 15 members have paid their dues. There are 7 to 9 outstanding members. Telephone solicitations will shortly be made to non-paid up members. By way of previous conversations, member Dan, W2NDP, who resides in Florida, advised the President that his check is in the mail.
Discussions took place regarding the FCC’s waffling position on the requirement for a CW code test and other band subdivisions.
Guest Peter, NA2P, brought many DX cards to be checked for DXCC credit but this could not be achieved due to the lack of an official DXCC card checker in attendance (Tom, AG2A).
On this note, NN2C will call Bill Moore at the ARRL headquarters to have W2GW installed as an official DXCC checker, in addition to AG2A.
Marv, W2FGD, handed over to NN2C an audiotape that contained part of a LIDXA meeting that took place around 1982. Ed, K2MFY, came across this tape at home recently and gave it to Marv to review and reminisce over this past meeting. The tape will be available at our next meeting for the enjoyment of all, and for those that can remember some of the member check-ins on the tape.
At the conclusion of this meeting Marty said he would send his meeting notes to Ed, K2MFY, to have him transcribed the notes to the official LIDXA meeting minutes format.
The meeting was concluded at 9:30PM. The next regularly scheduled meeting for the LIDXA is on Friday, March 17, 2006.
