VI. TRAINING AND DRILLS

A. Training.
The Linn County Emergency Management Agency will provide supplementary training opportunities to you as an Emergency Communications volunteer. These training opportunities Are described in Attachment D - Training Opportunities for Emergency Communications Volunteers, attached to this plan.

B. Simulated Emergency Test (SET).
The ARRL Simulated Emergency Test is a nationwide exercise in emergency communications, administered by ARRL Emergency Coordinators and Net Managers. Both ARES and the National Traffic System (NTS) are involved. The SET weekend gives communicators the opportunity to focus on the emergency communications capability within their community while interacting with NTS nets. SET weekend is held in October, and is announced in QST.

C. Emergency Management Exercises.
The Linn County Emergency Management Agency is required by FEMA and OEM to conduct a full-scale disaster exercise every four years and one functional disaster exercise in each of the other years. These exercises can provide you an excellent opportunity to practice disaster communications operations without actually having to experience a real disaster.
