IV. DIRECTION AND CONTROL
A. Incident Command System.
During emergency events in which the Linn County EOC is activated, the EOC Incident Commander is the overall authority for emergency communications operations and will normally exercise control through the chain of command to the Logistics Section Chief and Communications Unit Leader an then to the communications resource. ARES/RACES operators should become acquainted with working within the Incident Command System environment.
B. Relationship to the Linn County Emergency Management Agency.
As an ARES/RACES amateur radio operator, you volunteer your services and equipment to support emergency services within the county. During emergency operations and if properly signed-in ARES/RACES you will be covered under Linn County Workers Compensation Insurance, and will be considered a volunteer worker for the county.
