Open-Air City of Norway
Drammen river and the near-by fjord has been clean up again from beeing one of the most polluted river. It now emerges as absolut clean, and has taken back its position as one of Norway's best and largest salmon rivers. Along the river banks idyllic walkways and riverparks for fishing, swimming and recreation.
Drammens two market squares Bragernes and Strømsø is linked by a bridge. Bragernes market is the largets in Scandinavia and Drammen's "front parlour". Drammen have many parks and country houses. Drammen has also a bunch of summer recidences that are now museums.
The hills on both sides of Drammen Valley are our leisure area all year long. Hiking, Bicycling, skiing and other sports activities. Here you also find some of the most popular cultural offers.
Drammen offers quite a number of
activities. In sommer we have open-air pools in Marienlystbadet. Combine a
wonderful swim with a tour of the neighbourhood. On Bragernes is
Landfalltjern and Strømsø is Stordammen. It still possible to
experience the orginal wilderness, wich you reach across the steep
Kjøsterudjuvet ravine (Drammens Grand Canyon). In
Skoger 18-hole golf course.
In winter period has a lot to offer too. More than 100 kilometers tracks
for cross-country skiers, and 42 kilometers of well-maimtained lit tracks.
For alpine skiing Haukåsløypa on Strømsø and Aronsløypa on Bragernes.
Both sloper have lifts and floodlit. There are several rimks for ice
skating throughout town, some of them floodlit.
