Welcome to LA4JL ham radio homepage.

Name My name is Per Eftang, I have been licenced as LA4JL since July 1967.
QTH My current QTH is is Oslo, but I also operate from my summer QTH, Ula, near Larvik. A small presentation of Ula is here. From time to time I also operate /M, and on vacation, mostly in EA land. My QTH is indicated by the red spot in the background map.
Rig I have several rigs. At present, my favourite HF rig is Elecraft K2. You can find more information  here. I spent 50+ hours of my time to build the Elecraft #765 kit. It's a complete transceiver CW, SSB output 10W with built in antenna tuner and battery. Other rigs I use is: Yaesu FT1000MP, FT817, Icom IC820H and Kenwood TM-D700E. More information on my rigs I have owned can be found here . For HF I use a multiband dipole or a R7 vertical. For VHF I use  a X300 or a 9. el yagi. My favourte operating mode is CW, but i also use digital modes and SSB/FM.
Log If you want to confirm a QSO with me, look up my log here . In the future you will be able to get a PGP signed email QSL card confirming our QSO by accessing the log asking for a "QSL" card. You may also get electronic QSL cards from me at www.eqsl.cc. I regret that the amateur organisations do not accept these QSL's for diplomas and awards. The log isn't quite up to date, but it will....
Computers I use computers mainly in my profession. For Ham radio,  I have a computer connected to my FT1000 MP and IC820 running TRX-Manager . I also use various PSK31 programs. On VHF I'm active on APRS using the Kenwood TM-D700E and a Garmin GPS. At home I use UI-VIEW for monitoring. My computer also logs the QSOs I have. In fact if you connect to my log, you are online on my ham computer. In LA we are not allowed to run gateway processes between the Internet and the Ham community, so all servers are only available on my intranet.... sorry.  A small firewall protects my intranet from the Internet fears. My link to the Net is 640 kbit down and 128 kbit up. The Ham computer is a PII 233 MHz with 168 Mb memory and 3 old Hds total 18Gb. On my intranet I have several computers running both Windows 2000, Wistler (the new Windows XP)  and Linux (slackware).
Mail I was active on packetradio, but not anymore. I built my first TNC in 88. The best way to reach me is using one of my mail adresses eg. [email protected] or [email protected]
Links I'll just provide you with a few local  Ham liks. Many sites provides excellent link collections, mine does not.

NRRL is the organisation for hams in LA, you can find it here .  A local favourite is Follogruppens web  here with a very good classified ad section. Local vendors of ham equipment in LA are Permo and Ankerske The main Norwegian APRS page is here .
