Welcome to LA2UIA's homepage

About myself

I was born in 1961 in Namsos, a lazy town in the middle of Norway, but in 1998 I moved 50 km south, to Steinkjer (JP54QA). My XYL, Merethe and I got two lovely children (16 + 3 yrs old). My proffession is a salesman in a small marketing company. Merethe is studying ecomomics. In the sparetime I like trying to get new friend "on the air", do some gardening and go fishing in the lakes around my district (summer activity). I find it quite realaxing to listen to good music (which can be Pink Floyd, classical or blues) and read a book. When we can afford it, we like to travel abroad and found the British Isles very facinating.

My hobby (an obsession?)

After studying Ohm's law, reactans & resistance and hours of CW practice I got my B-class lisence in 1990 (LB6QD).
With more dots and dashes through my ears I finally got the A-class lisence in 1991 as LA2UIA.
I'm mostly active on 10 and 15 meter band and tries to operate 6 meter as often as I can. I'm not a active DX-er. I like to make a QSO to exchange experiences.
My equipment are mostly second hand Kenwood, but in the future Icom tranceivers is taking over for uhf/vhf.(sorry Kenwood).
A Kenwood TS-690Sat is helping me with the shortwave and 50MHz QSO's
A Kenwood TM-251E taking care of the local QSO's in VHF and Paket
I use a Kenwood TH-22E VHF for portable use and even mobile together with a 30 W GasFet amplifier.
For Paket operation I use PacComm TINY-2 TNC and WinPak software.
In top of my 10 meter (30 feet) steel tower I have a Vårgårda 3EL2 VHF beam and a Fritzel FB-33 HF-beam (10-15-20m). (see picture on top of my site) I also use a Cushcraft AV-5 vertical (10-15-20-40-80m) and a inverted V-dipol for 80/40 meter. I have plans for a 160 meter inverted L during this summer.
For mobile use on HF, I use Kenwood MA-5 (5-band) mobile whip. At field days the cushcraft AV-5 very become very handy.
