Want to check if you are in my JW2IJ log ? Check below:
My first visit to Spitsbergen, Svalbard was in august 1993 together with LA5PGA/JW5PGA - Bjoern. We stayed at the JW5E club-house in Longyearbyen. A 4-weel drive car was rented, and we spent a fantastic week doing sightseeing, photography and hamradio. (Approx. 40 kms of roads are found around Longyearbyen....) The weather was good and we visited the russian community Pyramiden, the coal mines around Longyearbyen, the glacier "Longyearbreen" as well as the old mining-town Moskushamn (Hiorthamn) at the other side of "Adventfjorden".
My amateurradio operation was mainly on RTTY, and I participated in SARTG WW RTTY Contest 1993. I had totally 421 QSO'es - mostly on RTTY
My second visit to Svalbard was in june/july 1996. This visit was combined with a job-visit to Isfjord Radio at Kapp Linné. I did also this time stay at the JW5E clubhouse. Many thanks to Mathias - JW5NM - for all help!
This time I managed to have more than 760 QSO's totally - including 225 on SSB. The rest was on RTTY. Many ops indicated that they worked a new country on RTTY.
