In March of 2001, we suddenly found ourselves trying to chip through two feet of (mostly) ice in order to free the water, sewer, electric, satellite TV and telephone lines.

Why? Well... we'd been evicted from the campground, that's why!

Well, maybe not formally "evicted". As it turns out, the campground had ten years to get into compliance with New Hampshire campground sewage regulations. And that ten years had expired. Sigh...

At exactly that same time, we had been contacted by a consulting company in Kansas City who had numerous projects for us to work on. So off to Missouri we went! Isn't the lifestyle grand? Yes, we think so...

Unfortunately, we had the very bad luck to get underway with a HUGE snow storm heading into New England that day. Could we beat it?

No, we couldn't. We made it through New England and into Pennsylvania, only to discover the traffic on the highway in the other direction at a standstill, and NO traffic going our way whatsoever. Yup; they'd closed down the Interstate. So we went about a mile further and boondocked for the rest of the day and night.

We stopped at Kickapoo State Park in Danville IL (gorgeous campground with a large contigent of deer!!) and spent some time with Leigh's youngest daughter and her family, and then headed toward the final destination of Platte City, Missouri. The campground turned out to be a resort with the "deluxe" sites up on a terraced hillside, as the photos below will show.
