Computer History

My computer interests started in 1979, I had been operating RTTY with an old Navy Kleinschmidt KSR when a company named Macrotronics came out with an adapter to operate RTTY and CW using a TRS-80 Model 1 computer. Of course I had to have one but it was like a 60/40 partnership as Macrotronics had it more than I did. After no end of minor problems with it I requested a cash refund, which I promptly recieved.

A short time later a company named Crown Microproducts came out with and Interface for RTTY and CW, they made it for the TRS-80 Model 1,3 and 4. Again I had to have them and they were very nice piece's of equipment and were flawless in operation. I used them until 1982.

In 1982 the IBM clones were getting quite popular as there was more and more shareware becoming available. The first ones that I saw locally were at the Target Department Store and that was my beginning with the clones. It was an 8088 machine with a disk drive and mono monitor. Then slowly I started the upgrades, first to an STB Chauffeur video card and a Magnovox CGA monitor, I then purchased and installed a 20 meg Miniscribe hard drive and thought "I have arrived !!!", there is no possible way to fill a 20 meg drive.

From that day till this has been an endless process of building swapping and buying computer stuff, I could not begin to count the number of computers that I have had, I had as many as 7 at one time but am down to 5 at the present which are:

Toshiba NoteBook

HP XH136 NoteBook
