Another feature of Spam Radio is the famous Hooty Owl Net. This net meets every Friday Night at 10:00 PM and concludes at midnight. Mark, KQ4SX, is the net manager and dispenser of the hooty owls. Each check in receives a hooty owl, guaranteed to send an updraft through your shorts and good luck in the coming week. Special features on the net include the Atomic Drop Award, given out to the ham who has demonstrated the need to be grabbed up in the mighty talons of the Great Horned Hooty Owl and dropped on his head from a height of 147.555 ft. Nominations are taken from the net members and the net manager usually makes the final decision. Another feature is called "As the Owl Hoots". This is a time set aside for an editorial comment from the net manager and open forum from the net members. The net has a very relaxed, laid back, and humorous atmosphere Please feel free to check in on Friday nights at ten on the nickel. Feel the power of the HOOTY OWL!!!

Another group of that we have established is The Flatwood C W Society. We promote and help with the advancement of Morse Code. We also try to help those who want to upgrade their license class and by helping any who wish to improve their sending or receiving skills. We meet regularly on the 10 meter frequency of 28.130 MHz. It is a fun time for all, the code speed ranges from 10 words per minute to 30 words per minute. All are welcome to join in with us and help preserve the art of Morse Code.
