ARRL Field Day 2000

N5FC, N5WU and K5FX (along with setup help from K5JHF
and son) braved
heat, scorpions and RF exposure hazard to carry the A QRP flag in the
ARRL Field Day 2000 operating as KQ5RP from the "secret site"
high above Austin.
The "secret site" turned out to be
great and was really cool during
night. It was pretty windy which helped a lot in migrating the
effects
of the Sun but made keeping the shade shelter impossible.
We only operated 21 hours but made 307 CW QSOs on 40,
20, 15 and 10
meters. All QRP, all battery power. Look for the KQ5RP
results in the 1A
Battery class. We expect to meet our goal of a finish high in the
bottom 25% of the one transmitter class.
This map shows the ARRL sections worked during FD 2000 by KQ5RP.
