Hi!! My name is Randy Potts and I was licensed as a novice class operator in February of 1993 and currently hold an amateur extra class license. My favorite modes of operation are SSTV and "rag-chewing" on 160 meters.

SSTV is a lot of fun! This mode is easy to operate if you have a computer with a 486 processor or faster and a sound card. The software can be downloaded off of the internet; and with a couple of phono cables you will be in business. One of the more popular frquencies to operate SSTV is 14.230 mhz on 20 meters.

160 meters is my favorite band. It is less crowded than any of the other bands. The size of the antenna intimidates a lot of operators.A half-wave antenna is 242 feet and a full-wave over 500 feet in length. There are some limited space antenna's available (100 feet) and do quite well; but, don't expect them to per form like the half and full wave antenna's. If you have never operated on 160 ; you should try it! I think you will like it. I operate on 1.950 mhz with many aquaintences of mine. This is a band better suited for night and winter. In the summer it is consumed by "STATIC CRASHES" and signals start to fade around 8 o'clock in the morning.

Thank you for visiting the web page and good luck in all of your endeavors.
