Boys Town, The Movie

"Tracy outdoes himself" (New York Post) in this Oscar-winning performance!

There is no such thing as a bad boy. Or, apparently, a bad Tracy-Rooney picture. First Captains Courageous, which gave Tracy his first Academy Award, and then, Boys Town, which earned him his second.

It's the story of Father Flanagan who, for years, battled the courts, the community, and mostly the odds to create a home for boys society had tossed away...Boys Town. When rebellious Whitey Marsh (Rooney) comes to stay, Flanagan faces the biggest challenge of his life. He must fight not only to save this self-destructive youth, but to save Boys Town itself.

Rooney has never been better, once again proving his strength as a dramatic actor, a talent we've seen most recently in The Black Stallion and Bill. All in all, the boys of Boys Town will simply steal your heart before you ever notice it's gone. But they'll leave you with something even better--inspiration.
