After looking at commercial BULLDOG paddles I thought I could make them myself:

The binder clip is the main body.
The two regular paper clips act as springs
to push out the "paddles" away from the main
body.

The binder clip clips around a wooden post
also holding the bodies of the two regular paperclips

The two paperclip "springs" are soldered to
the binderclip arms.

Connections:
scrape some paint off the binder clip and solder
the common wire to the binder clip body.

Dit and Dah contacts
Cut a couple of small (1/4") squares of single sided
circuit board and superglue with the fiberglass side
toward the body of the binder clip.
(one contact for dit and one for dah)
Then solder dit and dah wires to the dit and dah
contact surfaces of the single sided circuit
board.

I actually used a small piece of double sided
circuit board cut in half edgewise with a dremel
cutter wheel for the contacts.

If I can help more let me know..
