PULSE LASER TRANSCEIVER

TL082 JFET / PIN Diode Receiver Schematic

This circuit is an improvement over the LM741/LM1458 receiver.   The JFET features low noise in the audio spectrum and high impedance resulting in a very sensitive front end receiver, more so than the photo transistor used in the other two receiver circuits.  This design is actually a variation of K3PGP's PIN Diode receiver and WB9AJZ Cheepo "CW" Receiver.

Notice the small wafer shape of the PIN diode on the left side of the board.  The top side of the board has the copper left on to shielding against stray capacitance.   The greater sensitivity of the JFET causes problems with printed circuit board designs.  Stray capacitance can cause feed back/oscillation or a decrease in signal amplification.
