AFSK - RTTY

It doesn't work!!!
Manual says:
1. Connect your Terminal unit to the accessories or microphone jack (AF out, AF in/MIC, PTT/SEND, GND).
2. Select RTTY mode. ~~wrong~~wrong~~wrong~~
3. Select desired FSK tone/shift frequencies and keying polarity.
4. Set the desired frequency
5. Operate the connected PC or TNC (TU).

ALL YOU GET IS CARRIER. . . . NO DATA
Most of you have figured this out already. But for those of us who have to be told. . . . "Select SSB mode"
