A little about myself.....
Lessee....I was born in 1965 in the town of Winchester, KY. I have been in Arkansas for 28 years.
I graduated high school in 1983. 3 days after graduation I was in basic training for the U.S. Army. I was a 31M - Multichannel Communications Equipment Operator. With a title like that, I figured I'd be working at NASA when I got out. :-)
The army and I got along. It was a good experience, and kind of defined who I am. I certainly did a lot of maturing there. They say that you only get out what you put in, and I put my heart and soul into it. I spent time in the US, Europe, and Central America. Nothing like some real-world experiences under your belt to make you appreciate what you have.
After leaving active duty, I acquired a couple of other MOSs in the guard - 31F MSE Node Center Switch Operator, and 31U Signal Support Systems Specialist. My civilian job was an electronic technician working on video games and pinball machines. Not the highest paying job, or the most respected, but it certainly was an experience. I currently maintain SGI/Unix based C-130 Maintenance Training Devices for the USAF (I work for a defense contractor).
I have been a ham since May of 1993. I had a late uncle K4MNF who encouraged me for years to become a ham, and I think my only regret was that I didn't do it sooner. At least, before he died.
Aviation is my "other" hobby, and I have been doing it a lot longer. I wear glasses, and that disqalified me from flying in the military, but I am making it up by being able to work with aviation. I enjoy it immensely.
