APRS Weather Project

(Work in progress)

µWeather Project Info

These photos show the µWeather weather station I installed in the mechanical room atop the building I work in.  This duct was chosen because of its location relative to the afternoon sun.  It receives only partial direct sunlight in midsummer for only 90 minutes.  The duct provides air intake when the vents are open, so open or closed, it seems to be a good place to house the station.

A Kenwood TH-79 is used with a half watt to digi the data via a Kantronics KPC-3 TNC, to the Shepard Peak digipeater.  Weather information consisting of wind speed and direction, temperature, and humidity are provided to the APRS net in Davis County.  This data is also available via the Internet from wx.findu.com/kj7no-2.  Data is also used by the Davis County Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Services in the event of a disaster related to a hazardous materials spill.
