The Amateur Radio Service is made up of some 600,000 plus Americans and countless others abroad who are interested in the art of Wireless Communications and technologies. There are many facets to our hobby and many organizations for help and support. We have about 17 or 18 communications satellites and regularly carry on digital and voice communications with the Space Shuttles and Mir space station. We do ATV (Amateur Television), Slow Scan TV, RTTY, Moon Bounce and much much more. The most basic aspect is our continual exchange of ideas and information and just learning more about each other, our selves and our environment. Many of us volunteer our services in thousands of public service events each year and in emergency communications as well. We offer our services in times of disaster. Our RACES organization, Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service, helps out in the event of sever storms, earthquakes, floods, and all sorts of natural and man made disasters. We work hand and hand with Police, Fire, Red Cross and other service organizations helping to smooth out the rough times for many. We'd like to invite you to learn more about the Amateur Radio Service in your area and better still, JOIN US in the fun and fulfilling adventures that we're involved in....that is...if you haven't already.
