Switch Tester
My dad and I would frequently go to the local electronics supply store to buy switches for various projects, but we never knew if switches or buttons were momentary or push-on and push-off. So I made this device out of a small Altoids tin. Inside is a 9-volt battery and a resister that power a LED in a hole in the top of the tin. Two wires come out of the tin for connecting to the switch or button.

Construction
Making the Switch Tester is an easy process. You may already have the parts laying around.
Required Parts
- 1 - LED (any color)
- 1 - Resistor 4600 ohms, +/-5% (See Picture Below)
- 1 - Altoids Tin
- 1 - 9-volt Battery
- Wire (Any kind, any length)

I found this kind of resistor laying around with some old LEDs. Experiment with whatever resistors you have until you find one that lets the LED light up but doesn't make it get really hot.
Tools Needed
- Electrical Tape (Or soldering iron and solder)
- Tool to put Hole in Lid of Tin (I used a screw driver)
