for those of you who didnt know i am an Operation Specialist 3rd class in the United States Coast Guard. i dont have much yet as i am on patrol, but i plan to post more as time alots.

in other news i am due to make second class anytime now (hopefully before the end of december), and i recently got orders to Group Key West's comm room. so i will be hailing from there mid summer 2005.

most of my hobbies include radios or computers, but anything that has DC running through it responds well when i touch it. i am currently tinkering with a little know but very powerful 3d programming language called Dark Basic. it is cheap compaired other compliers like Visual C.

ok this may sound silly but i have an idea on how to improve the range of VHF. it includes mounting a small repeater to a remote control helicopter. the only thing i have to work out is the antenna would really only safely be mounted pionting down (this saves the vertical polarity). but the lenght of the antenna would clear the landing skids if operating on any band longer than 70cm, but this is a project to come in the future. right now i am building the true mobile mobile. it includes a mobile radio, a car "jump start" for a battery, a small dual band antenna and a tripod or back pack. i am thinking the backpack is going to be the easiest to carry but leaves no room for the antenna. this project will be complete before december and i will have pictures up when they are available. oh yea one more thing all parts for this project will be scavenged off my car's mobile station and include a diamond dual band magnet mount, and an icom mobile 208H.
