Thankyou for Visiting! here you will find much information on my amateur radio hobby and shortwave listening.

I am always Riding the waves ( little surf humor for listening) when it comes to radio and TV. occasionally i can be found on the air having a conversation or two but rarely on any frequency below 140 MHz...

My Life seems to revolve around wireless technology so much ,in fact that the only wireed services in my house are electricity and the internet and even the internet after entering my house is wirelessly connected.

Many people don't realize that there is still antenna ready TV still being broadcast and while many areas like me only get maybe 5 channels what more do you really need?

questions commnets or just general ragchew

Shortwave radio isn't dead... there are many countries that use it to transmit news and cultural highlights to the world in general!

There are many radio programs that are on several hours of the day and many are staged so that you can hear one station's broadcast and be able to tune in the next one on a pretty steady basis.

The nice thing about shortwave is that you don't need a very expensive receiver to pick them up... but for the best reception a long antenna is ideal.

A personal suggestion is to be sure that your reciever has a connection for an external antenna like a G5RV, a long wire antenna that has the nice ability to be bent to fit a small yard area and if hung the right way becomes almost invisible unless you know where to look. or can be used indoors if you are technically not allowed to place it outside but your appartment or house may prevent you from picking up any but the strongest stations.

My Radio desk

From left to right: on the desk - a Realistic DX-300 shortwave reciever, two DC power converters, A Kenwood AT-230 antenna tuner, a Kenwood TS-830S HF tranciever, my HP pavillion laptop for loging and decoding digital signals and hidden behind the laptop is an ICOM IC-251A VHF transceiver

across the top shelf: (barely visible) an NOAA weather radio, a Radioshack Pro-94 handheld police scanner, a Kenwood TW-4000A VHF/UHF transceiver, a Realistic TRC-413 CB tranciever, A Lafayette Comstat-25A CB reanciever, a Regency Montioradio (currently needs repair) and my printer.
