RICK'S HAWAIIAN HURRICANE CHECK LIST rev 5/13

ALERT 

____ Medicine supply inventory and acquire 
____ White gas or propane tanks for lanterns and stoves 
____ REFRESH discussion CONTACT PLAN where to meet friends and family where to leave messages outside of affected area should the local phone systems go down.
____ SECURE LOOSE OBJECTS OUTSIDE.  get rid of loose objects as they become projectiles in a hurricane.
____ SUMP PUMP and backup power, clear filters, do a test run if not used regularly
____ ICE BLOCKS fill empty milk cartons and freeze for ice blocks, will give you enough time to slowly deplete refrigerated items over a few days if long power outage occurs.
____ NON PERISHABLE FOOD inventory and purchase whats missing
____ DATA backup computer data and store in safe place while you still have power SD cards external hard drives in ziploc bags placed in water tight container Pelican case/ coolers etc.
____ PHOTOS /DOCUMENTS- insurance , ownership vehicle/house, identity birth certificates/passport, cash etc. zip loc bag placed in watertight cases Pelican etc.
____ CURRENT HOUSE PHOTOS backup to above, take with camera phone , send pics to yourself on remote servers such as GMAIL, YAHOO MAIL etc.
____ BATTERIES- check stock of all batteries needed for flashlights and radios
____ have a cell phone vehicle charger plug/cord available should power go out you can charge from vehicle. (for technically capable people include jumper clips to connect DC charger plug directly to 12V car battery as you have to have the ignition ON on a lot of vehicles to get 12V to the accy jack)
