This is my first receiver, obtained new back in my early novice days somewhere around 1960. It still works good although the front panel paint flaked off in patches many years ago. If I use it it would be for general monitoring, usually listening to foreign broadcast stations while working in the shack. Back in the early '80s I added a digital readout to it behind the plastic cover where the clock was located. Since it is just a general purpose receiver I didn't need a frequency readout with more resolution than the nearest KHz. Before the readout you had to set the bandspread dial to '100' and set the main tuning dial to the right harmonic of an external xtal calibrator to get a close frequency readout. Now, when you set the display to 15000, WWV is right there! The circuitry is completely shielded and introduces no detectable birdies or signals that can be heard.
