Training Classes
     ARES offers several training classes in basic radio operation and emergency communication. A current class schedule has not been set.

Workshops

     There are no workshops scheduled.     

    

CERT Drills

     There is a skills refersher in July and there are 3 drills that are part of the CERT training classes.

         

     Annual Simulated Emergency Test (SET). This test involves amateur radio operators across the North American continent!

  • Training Net

         This net is used to practice basic directed net operations, exchange messages and conduct special drills and tests. Anyone interested is welcome to participate. Net Control duties rotate through the various CERT districts of Fremont, Newark and Union City.
  • The net takes place Tuesdays at 19:30 Hours (7:30 PM) on the WA6PWW repeater, 147.015 MHz with a negative offset, PL 103.5 Hz.

  • ARES Monthly Meeting

         ARES organizes training programs, drills, and tests to improve CERT's ability to communicate in a disaster. ARES also develops policies and procedures to assure smooth communication within and between CERT districts. Any interested person is welcome to attend.
  • The third Thursday of each month from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Fire Administatraion unless otherwise specified.

    License Classes and Exams

    CRAM CLASSES:  Study session followed by an exam are the quickest way to obtain your amateur radio license. Typically these seminars and exams are for Technician and General classes of license. Registation can be done via the Bay Area EARS web site.
