Hi, I'm Mike Blanton - KG4UUJ. On August 20, 2002 I successfully passed the element 2 examination and earned my Technician Class Operator's license. I chose amateur radio as a hobby after meeting a group of ham operators at the annual Fancy Farm Picnic. The hobby holds alot of appeal for me and I hope to one day get the whole family involved. I am currently studying elements 1 and 3 so I can upgrade to General and gain HF priviledges.
I'm running a Yaesu FT-2600M (mobile) with a 5/8 Larsen antenna. I primarily operate 2 Meters on 145.270 MHz utilizing the WA6LDV repeater in Mayfield, Kentucky. I occasionally operate 6 Meters and 70 Centimeters via ECHOLINK.
I have been married for 8 great years and have wonderful wife and a beautiful 3 year old daughter. I am currently employed by Community Alternatives Kentucky as a Job Coach. I work with developmentally disabled individuals on developing job skills and finding employment within our community. Besides amateur radio I am an avid hunter and fisherman.
