Equipment I now have:
Yaesu VX-5R - 5 Band Hand held "handy talky" |

| This is a Grundig YB-400 World Band Receiver. It
includes a 20 foot wind up antenna that works ok, but I am about to get a
vertical outside antenna to later use for HF bands.
I'm using this not only to listen to world band stations, but also to practice the morse code. |

| Equipment I plan to get: | |
| This is a Spi-Ro VS53
antenna to use with the Grundig and with the Icom HF transceiver below.
It can also be used on the sailboat until I install insulators on the backstay. |

| This is an Icom 706MKIIG. It includes HF bands that allow for worldwide communications. I plan to use it at home for awile |

| My Ham Qualifications: | |
| I have an entry level Technician's license. I'm working on
learning the morse code with audio tapes and computer software for drills.
In order to communicate on the High Frequencies, you must have a General Class license. In order to get the General Class license, you need to know some technical theory (the easy part for me) and pass a 5 work per minute morse code test. I am just about there on the code and will take/pass the code/theory exams soon. |
