Outside
- Shown is an antenna that went bad on me. I have since had it
replaced with a max-rad antenna located in position 10. This is currently hooked to an
Alnico duelband radio. The antenna in
position 10 lost the top of 3 segments and has been is currently sitting in
position 1 just to keep something covering the mount.
- Garmin GPS III Plus, I use this to give me a detailed map of the area
within an 800ft area so I do not miss a turn, also acts as backup if another
one of my GPS systems fail.
- Sony Street Atlas GPS Navigation system that hooks to my old
Notebook. Unfortunately the notebook died and it will be a bit before
I can replace it. I did use it for navigating long distances. It
has voice recognizing ability so I can control it without taking my hands
off the wheel, and it has a voice synthesizer so I can find out where I am
and other information without having to look at it.
Temporarily I will be using my secondary backup for this which is a
combination of my Palm Pilot and the Delorme GPS Receiver. I load it
using maps from Street Atlas.
- Whelen Duel Strobe DashMiser, the first real strobe I ever bought. I
use it for when I am on the side of the road, emergencies, added visibility
in the worse conditions, and public service events when I am working as a
sag wagon. However only when I need to be visible to approaching
traffic. Since I always try to obey the law, it gets little use.
- StreetHawk 3 Strobe Light bar, I use it for when I am on the side of the
road, emergencies, added visibility in the worse conditions, and at public
service events when I am working as a sag wagon.
- RadioShack CB Antenna
- RadioShack 10 Meter Antenna, has been removed to
my shack
- RadioShack Scanner Antenna
- RadioShack 2 meter Antenna. I use it for special events with my
Kenwood TM-261A radio I pull out of my shack and put in the truck. May
use it for APRS in the future.
- The antenna displayed lost one of three sections and has been replaced by
a max-rad duelband antenna
- Starlight Single Strobe, great for backing out of a parking place when I
am beside a van, also use it when I am on patrol so I can provide a little
more visibility without looking like there is an emergency.
- RadioShack Weather station based on an Oregon Scientific design. I
can't get wind direction or rainfall amounts at all. Temperature and Humidity
measurements are thrown askew due to the need of a protective box. But
I do get good wind speed measurements when I am stopped. And this is
what the NWS usually wants.
- In my truck box I used to carry a industrial grade OSHA approved First Aid
Kit and Fire Extinguisher that I now carry along with a jumpstart battery
and a pry bar in the cab of my truck
