A Classic Postcard from Spitsbergen

Picture side of real-photo postcard from 1939 at Kings Bay, Spitsbergen; illustration of the community there and the mooring mast for the Norge.

The picture side is in a beautiful Sepia tone; note the dirigible mooring mast to the left of the picture; this was for the airship (a dirigible, to be precise) Norge. Go here to see a small black and white photo of the Norge. The structure in the background that appears to be a frame-type building is a hanger for the airship that is either in construction or in disassembly, I need to do some more research. Maybe the polar aviation buffs will fill me in.

Back side of the sepia real-photo postcard illustrated above, the King's Bay cachet is used as the cancelling device.
